Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us. We only collect information that is necessary for this site to properly operate. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address (and maybe your name if you provide it). That information is only used for the purpose of sending you an occasional newsletter so you can stay up to date with the happenings around here. Cookies are collected by various components on this site so that we can operate advertising to offset the costs of running this site. This is a WordPress site and when you leave a comment, the database that runs this site will collect information like the IP address of your computer and whatever information you provide. We do not access that information, and to be honest, don’t really know how. There is some legal stuff below and a bit more explanation about what is collected by your visit with us.

Who we are

Our website address is: https://cooklikeawarrior.com. This website is owned and operated by Whole Bite, Inc. a company with two employees.

What personal data do we collect and why we collect it?

Comments

When you leave a comment on this site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. We don’t have Gravatar accounts and don’t really know what they are for.

Contact forms

You may find a contact form on this website. It is used to make it easier for people to contact us. That form does not store information, but instead takes the submitted date and sends it via email. That email system is built into the website and does not rely on your email. Only the information you submit is collected and the only storage of that is in our email inbox. We do not retail this information longer than necessary to respond to that message. We have enough stuff in your inbox as it is.

Analytics

This website uses analytics collection services so that we know how much traffic we receive, where it comes from, and what content is being accessed. This system does not provide us with information about specific users or even much in the way of search data.

Google Analytics

We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about the use of this site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and a few bits of demographics like the general area they live and what language their browser is set to. We never see names are any identifying information. We know someone visited and that’s enough to make us happy.

We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use (as amended for government websites) and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
